Prescription medicine
Prescription medicine
We are thinking of using a private Doctor, since we don't "gel" with the GP we have been requested to see at the General, by the Consultant, for intermediate supervision between visits to her. Can anyone tell me if we could still use the general for prescription drugs, if they are issued by a private Doctor? TIA.

I agree with Lincoln, it is a NO !! It is a shame really because using the private GP lightens the load on the Hospital doctors..

What’s going to happen when the new NHS is operational, presumably we will be able to use any GP & any Pharmacy that are registered in the “system”?

YES you can provided that the medication is deemed a hospital drug ... i.e. not available at a pharmacy. You have to pay full price for them. I regularly go to to the hospital pharmacy for one of my medications. You take your prescription to the pharmacist who will give you an "invoice" to take to the accounts department to pay .... by the time you get back to the pharmacy your medication is ready ... don't queue again just go straight to the window and exchange the paperwok for the medication.
