Light at the end of the tunnel?
Light at the end of the tunnel?
Theresa May is to chair a special cabinet meeting on Wednesday to discuss a draft Brexit withdrawal agreement.
A cabinet source has told BBC the text has been agreed at a technical level by officials from both sides after intensive talks this week.

Dominic,my family like many others take the BBC news not to seriously any more..They don't tell us fake news but don't tell the WHOLE story, just a biased left wing view of it.But I guess you already new this......Back to my evening Carlsberg...
Re: Light at the end of the tunnel?
Great news Dominic, hope she can pull a rabbit out of the hat.
Unfortunately Merkel's Speach today in favour of a European army will serve to bolster the hard brexiteers,.....bad timing.

Can't particularly see where this BBC report is biased or left wing, it's merely stating what has just happened! MSN news has published something similar and I guess several other news sites have done the same.

Or another referendum which I am sure will result in a reversal of the first.
Re: Light at the end of the tunnel?
Aaahhh!! Don't agree there Mark!
The referendum was the referendum, end of. Why should it be rerun, just because some dissenters didn't agree with it?

No one really knew what they were voting for, even now many still don't know fully, but are a bit better informed.
If the current agreement fails, it's either a general election, which may well lead to a labour government, or a re-run.
Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Cabinet has just approved the draft withdrawal agreement.
May must have played a blinder to get this approval.........now the hard work begins to try to reunite a divided party, and country.

Re: Light at the end of the tunnel?
Will we soon see some cabinet resignations from those that didn't approve it.
I wonder what the parliament meaningful vote will be as if the talking heads in recent days stay entrenched she doesn't seem to have enough support to get this through. Labour will say no as they want an election, ERG will say no as it's not a hard Brexit and the DUP will say no as "it's a poor deal, a bad deal, and a deal that the prime minister said she would not accept." That's a lot of labour rebels that will be needed... Does she call their bluff with two votes - should we accept the withdrawal agreement or no deal followed by should we accept the withdrawal agreement or remain. That would flush out those who have been throwing rocks throughout the process without offering an alternative.
Full disclosure: I voted remain.
Re: Light at the end of the tunnel?
I now feel she will get what perhaps she has wanted all along, a people's vote on what's on the table, or a vote on whether we remain in the EU.

Re: Light at the end of the tunnel?
Just saw the speech May made outside Number 10. She said something like "...the choice before us is clear..." the withdrawal agreement, leave with no deal or "...no Brexit at all..." It looks like it's about to get interesting.
Re: Light at the end of the tunnel?
Robert I also voted remain, despite the many flaws in the EU.
We must remain to have a voice and try to avoid a federal Europe.

Re: Light at the end of the tunnel?
Sorry Mark, posting while you posted. It's starting to look like somebody is going to get a vote.
Re: Light at the end of the tunnel?
Robert, I agreed with that point of view which is why I voted to remain. However, it has now become patently clear that the EU wants a total federal Europe where individual countries have no say in how they are governed and we as individuals will not be able to affect the choice of how we are governed and have no option but to accept EU dictates!
If HiC, jimgward, jim b, etc. are happy with that then good luck for our children because it will be those that experience our decisions, not us?

Why? Maybe then you could have another referendum.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 1:39 am And if May is ousted, what then? Doesn't bear thinking about.
