Registering for electricity

This question isn't for me but for a friend.
She is moving into a new rental apt and needs to have the electric in her name.
I know where the building is...but any tips re the procedure....which dept etc what documents to take etc.

I have only been in the new building a couple of times. It seems well organised with machines where you take a ticket. When it is your turn the ticket number comes up on big screens and tells you which representatives numbered place you go to.

It's 12yrs since I registered for the service but I needed to take a copy of the Rental Agreement, my Passport or photo ID and the deposit in cash.

However, the procedure may have changed now and if your friend is in employment it may be worth her having a payslip or something which shows she has an income as well as a Social Insurance Number, perhaps?

I did have the assistance of a Cypriot friend but all went very smoothly (at Limassol central office).

Not sure if for rental you need the landlord with you? We rent a shop in paphos and the landlord had to come with us to regisiter with the municipality and for water

However when we moved into our house, it is ours not rented, we had our purchase contract, passports, metre number and a copy of a previous bill. It was very easy to be honest, just make sure they have taken a meter reading and that the previous tenants or landlord have agreed to pay any difference as we had a bit of an issue with our first bill!

As PhotoLady has said, you will need proof of identity, the rental agreement & possibly the deposit, though EAC may charge this on the first bill! The deposit amount is more if you rent instead of own outright & could be as much as 200 euros!

Yes it is £200 deposit. You will definitely require your passport and of course the reading of the meter. We went with the landlord to transfer from their name to ours. You do get your deposit returned when you leave of course.
