Great news but does this sit comfortably with the continued building development on the Akamas?

I don't think it great news at all. An end to the wilderness, and having to pay every time you want to see it?

I wonder what wilderness will be left, since the article says that they intend to build 14 visitor centres with relaxation facilities, what ever that means, All the villagers will want to sell off their coastal plots ... to developers and the building of an 83 kms road network in a ‘sustainable’ way, plus no doubt the arrival of mains electricity to the roads and the coast is going to have a huge impact on what was a beautiful and undeveloped wild area. To cap it all we would be expected to pay to enter what’s left!

It's not the charges with which I have a problem. It's the developers. If they can be kept out then I'm more than happy to pay to see these preserved areas. They are the heritage of the island, if we don't pay to see them then how can the municipality ever hope to preserve them???

It’s the beginning of the end to an area of outstanding natural beauty
This is just the “tip of the iceberg’
Greed always takes preferences on this beautiful island

I'm gutted. This beautiful part of the world was one of the reasons we decided to move to Paphos. I expected to spend a lot of time exploring as I improved my fitness.

I think I wouldn't mind paying if it stayed the same as it is now (well, ok, I wouldn't mind a road that I would feel brave enough to drive on to get to the Blue Lagoon but that's it). But with building 83 km of road network (???!!!!) and 14 visitor centres, there's no chance it is going to stay the same. Are they talking tarmacked roads? I'd hope they remain dirt tracks (albeit decent quality ones) but I doubt it. And why on earth do they need 14 visitor centres!!!?? If they really wanted them then surely 2 or 3 would be enough?
No, I'm not happy about this...

Just take a look at Cap St George to see how an area can be ruined.Sad.
