Would be great, but it comes down to the finances, it was stopped because it was losing money, So unless the EU guarantees paying up , I can't see it happening, the link says the EU would need to pick up the loss, well any ferry company would want to make a profit, not break even.

If Lidl would use the same ferry for it's transportation of goods from Greece (depending the traveling time) it would add to the calculation. Further there are much higher tourist figures now than it was in 2000.

Still the same, most tourists come to Cyprus for a week/ two week holiday, they will not want to spend half of that time, traveling to Venice/Athens , then on a ferry to Cyprus, I can see a need for people driving to Cyprus etc, but is there enough customers to run a profitable service, history says no.cyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 10:12 amWHL wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 9:41 amHigher tourist, yes but how many have time or want to go to Greece and take a ferry, not many I guesscyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 9:30 am If Lidl would use the same ferry for it's transportation of goods from Greece (depending the traveling time) it would add to the calculation. But it's a nice way to travel when you live in Cyprus, are retired and not in a rush to get anywhere in particular...
We were looking forward to ferry trips when we were planning our move to Cyprus all those years ago. Then they pulled the plug on it...
Ferries mean an alternative travel option, grab it while you can!

Totally agree with you, but there's the problem, not enough people , to make it a viable project.PhotoLady wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 12:29 pm But it's a nice way to travel when you live in Cyprus, are retired and not in a rush to get anywhere in particular...
