Hi I’m coming over next month and exchanged a few £s for €s so I had some cash most is on cards
They have just been delivered and a have been given a few €100 notes my question is how easy are these to use in Paphos or is it best to exchange for smaller notes in a bank ?
Many thanks

Re: Advice on €100 notes usage
No a problem. Obviously, don't use one at a kiosk to buy a curly wurly, but otherwise not an issue.

Re: Advice on €100 notes usage
A question to those who love Cyprus but live in the UK. Members are discussing €100 & €500 notes. Has anyone even seen a £50 note in the UK?

Re: Advice on €100 notes usage
Even now in the UK some places will not accept 50 pound notes..

I believe that the EU has now stopped printing €500 note due to counterfeiting, so I expect that they will eventually go out of circulation.

Re: Advice on €100 notes usage
I disagree with most of the other posters! Personally, I have found that most of the smaller shops don’t even like €50 notes, never mind €100’s! The most popular and readily traded notes in Paphos are the smaller ones, €20’s, €10’s and €5’s. The larger supermarkets have more change so a €50 note isn’t a problem.
No doubt for larger purchases larger notes are accepted. Personally I usually pay with a local bank card as I don’t like carrying too much cash about with me. They are readily accepted everywhere in most shops now a days.

I’ve never had any problems paying with €50 notes either. Saying that, I wouldn’t buy one packet of chewing gum with one.

I actually meant that I buy more expensive things by bank card, but smaller bills I pay in cash....
