Over the thirty or so years I've been coming to and living in Cyprus I've seen a couple of tiny Scorpions usually out in rocky areas but last night the wife found one about 50mm (2inches) long in the hallway of our place; in fact she accidentally stood on it. The neighbour found a nest of them in his garden; I don't know if it's the unusual weather but it's advisable not to walk around in bare feet. The stings don't usually kill but are very painful, a poster on PL I know was stung on the arm and can confirm this. Be careful.

Re: Scorpions
Well, when you live in an undisturbed urban area like you do Jim, you can enjoy the real Cyprus but also have to cope with nature...
like I do.

Re: Scorpions
They are more common than you think but usually well hidden in rocks and wood piles. Shine a UV light at night and if any are around they will show up as white against a dark back ground.
