Garden update: before the promised storms or hosepipe ban arrives.

Post by PhotoLady »

It's a while since I posted some photos from UK and the updates we did at the front of the house.
We've just passed 12 months since the front was completed.

This was Day 4 of the makeover in June last year:

Around one month later - August 2017

An additional feature, the water pump was an object to be thrown away by our next door neighbours earlier this year:

Last week, the sign went up on what was originally a 2 bedroom detached bungalow two doors down from us and is now a 4 bedroom dormer bungalow to tell us it's Under Offer. So I'm hoping that sale board won't be appearing on my photos for very much longer :-)

We're on a countdown to the hosepipe ban for our area in the UK. Due to start on Sunday 5th August.

..... and will the people in your area adhere to the ban, just as they do in Cyprus?

Who knows what will happen under the cover of darkness?

My mum has a fishpond so she's allowed to keep that topped up with the hosepipe but she will really struggle to water her back garden using just a watering can. As are those who grow their own fruit and veggies. We recently harvested our spring onions and Kohlrabi (still keeping our taste of Cyprus when it's thinly sliced and served raw with salt and lemon juice)

We've cut our back and front down gardens down from their original size so we can manage with carrying from the outdoor tap, which is just as well because the guy next door to us works for United Utilities ;)

The hosepipe ban has been put on the backburner, they need all the water to start fracking (apparently) is the word on the streets ;-)

Thanks Lincoln 😊
We're really pleased with the way it's all turned out and we now have a much used outside area at the back and an attractive but very manageable front garden.

We've just learned in the last week that our long time friends who we met over 10yrs ago in Cyprus will be returning to UK and have asked us to keep an eye open for a property in our immediate area for them.

It gives us a great excuse to go nosying at houses again 😊

There is no substitute for actually going and seeing a property. But the rightmove draw a search is very good, and of course can be accessed from almost anywhere

We actually made an offer on our present home unseen by us.

We found the house on Rightmove and it seemed perfect for us, in a desirable location. Having to travel 200 miles to view houses, I asked a very close long standing friend who lived in Hereford to view it for us, fortunately the house was empty, so she was able to have a good look round at everything. She then rang me to tell me about it and sent her photos to me, I rang the agent and the rest as they say is history.

We are very happy here, and have super neighbours, job done.

Hope your friends might be as lucky Jules.

I love the stone covering, beautiful colour! Bet it looks even better wet.
