Paphos police fired warning shots, hitting the tyre and immobilising the vehicle of a man trying to evade arrest on Thursday night.
The 37 year old was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply, impeding police work and resisting arrest.
Police said that acting on a tip off, the drug squad had found a plastic container hidden in grass in Chlorakas containing a plastic bag with 15 grams of cannabis and precision scales.
They monitored the place and at 19.35 on Thursday, a man who owns a Paphos pub approached, parked, took the container and returned to his car. The drug squad asked him to stop but he sped off, pursued by police who fired two warning shots, bursting one of the tyres and immobilising the car.
The suspect refused to get out of the car and be searched. He also resisted arrest with police saying they used proportionate force.

Rather frightening, the thought of Cypriot police firing shots from a moving vehicle.

Given that they immobolised the care with just two warning shots, I would say they are very well trained.
