Refugees drown north of Cyprus
Re: Refugees drown north of Cyprus
Judging by the photo of the boat it was grossly overcrowded and too low in the water.
But this often seems to happen with these refugee boats which are run by ‘snakeheads’ who do it just to make as much money as possible.
But the sad fact is that no country wants more refugees - many of the countries bordering the ‘Med’ have far too many already.

Whether countries want them or not it is irrelevent. When you are running away from Hell, you don't look back.
Poor souls indeed.

this is a very emotive subject do you think we should have an open door policy to all, if so how will the system would cope who is to say you are persecuted or economic refuge, the west got its self in this mess by messing around with things it had not a hope in hell of fixing in fact it made a worse hell, they make a choice for the most part they know the risks I hope this does not sound to callous but in general you can not save the world just do your little bit and try to make the world a better place

When you say should we have and open door policy for all.. Is this Cyprus you are referring to ?

If you were in a life raft, and you saw somebody drowning in the sea, would you try and save them, or would you just try and keep your raft tidy?

if I saw somebody drowning my natural instinct would try and save them but I am just one individual, what I am saying is as long as the west has a policy of accepting them they will keep coming I am no expert on the subject of refugee problems but from the things I read and hear and see on tv we are starting to reach crisis point we have ploughed many millions of aid into try help if I saw somebody who needed help I would try to but then they said now you have to also help my family what am to do, It was not only about Cyprus but the west in general what the solution is I do not know all I think is we have to stop it or they will keep coming

A lot of the wars the refugees are fleeing from are caused in part, by actions of the West, and conducted using weapons manufactured in the West.
