...and a bus driver was attacked in Peyia last night.

What else will we hear in Paphos? A 19-year-old bus passenger attacked well in the driver's seat and sent him to the NN

In the arrest of a 19-year-old tourist, the Police proceeded to steal, attack and resist the lawful arrest.

According to the Police at the General Hospital of Pafos, an E / k bus driver of 59 years old was transferred after an attack he received from a passenger.

As the complainant said, he last night was on his bus in the area of Peyia when his tourist attacked and beat him for unknown reason.

The police traveled where he found the driver who then indicated the person who beat him.

As it transpired, this is a 19-year-old Polish.

The complainant even complained that the suspect allegedly received the money of 25 euros in the fight.

Also during his lawful capture, the 19-year-old put up resistance and then was arrested and detained.

Peyia/Coral Bay seem to turn into the Wild West of this beautiful island it seems
Hope they remain isolated incidents and that the authorities can quickly step up their presence to stop this all before getting worse.

It seems as if the type of rowdyness once seen in Bar Street at night has now gravitated to Coral Bay / Peyia, Part of the problem is that Paphos and the whole district are known to be chronically short of police.. so boots are thin on the ground. Most of them are probably usually based in Pafos. At a guess in and around the tourist area...

A couple of weeks ago I attended a demo held near the castle in support of getting more police coverage in Paphos area. Unfortunately not that many people came to it as the time clashed with a World Cup match. A shame as it turns out as pressure needs to be brought on the authorities to recruit more police men- and to increase the number of police based in Pafos and Pegia.
I think they still have a petition which individuals who are concerned about law and order in Pafos area, can sign.

Perhaps the bars should form a Pub Watch system and communicate with each other and warn others who have caused trouble in one bar and been ejected so they are not let in another bar.

Also the bars should stop serving people that are drunk and then trying to wash their hands of them when trouble is caused.

Why are bars not employing security staff to 'supervise' the premises and vet people entering the premises?

The Police can easily get more officers on the street (Or public order vans) at the relevant times by paying overtime thus not reducing the normal level of policing.

We have been told by officers of Paphos police recently that they are very short of manpower, have asked for extra officers and that request has been ignored. Hence the protest a few weeks ago which I allready mentioned. Even for responding to reports of burglary they say that there are not enough police to attend.
Ask yourself if you doubt this.

This year we are expecting increased numbers of tourists, not all of whom will behave themselves properly. We need more police present especially at night in busy areas.
