A cure for barking dogs ?

Post by Mrblobby »

We are often woken up by barking dogs .

A cure that works for us is "white noise" .

We use the fan noise , but there are lots of others rain wind the sea etc .

Yes, this is a problem living on Cy, worse in villages, most of the locals leave their dogs outside all of the time, I have never heard of an answer apart from going deaf, or moving to a field far out of town, most of us have to put up with noise pollution at some time here. My personal hate is children on noisy mopeds, no exhausts no insurance no helmets. I am thinking of cheese wire across the road. ;)

While we are on this subject, does anybody know please where to report barking dogs (within the Paphos Municipality area)? Thanks in advance.

As with everywhere else, the first stop should be seeking advice from the Mukhtar. Before you ask, yes Paphos does have one. Mukhtars have considerable power should they choose to use it, and a word from them seems to resolve most things.

The boys on the noisy bikes seems to have died down in our village ever since one of them nearly mowed the Mukhtah down he wasn’t best pleased not recommended.

I have no problems with barking dogs - at all :-)
We have 3 CockerPoo's next door to us.

Sadly, I developed tinnitus only very recently following a wonky moment diagnosed as BPPV in early December. It's not so bad when the TV is on but drives me mad when I go to bed!

I know that I posted this on another thread but
We had a problem with a neighbours barking dog. I got a high frequency 'Horn Tweeter', a signal generator and an amplifier. you set the signal generator above 15K place the Horn/tweeter in a waterproof bag and a lead from the amplifier stretching down the garden. When the dog starts barking turn the amplifier on. The effect was hilarious, the dog freaked out and disappeared, it did return a couple more times and after that no dog.

Just to bump this thread, has anybody had any success recently in solving a barking dogs situation?

Flossie

Love it
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Barking dogs, crowing cockerels, chainsaws at 7am on Sunday mornings...........this is Cyprus.
It's not Milton Keynes.
If you don't like it (and I don't particularly either)....either get double glazing, or move back to Blighty.
Personally, annoying as I find it, it's part of Cyprus, and I love living here, in a real relatively unspoiled country.
Sometimes I wonder why people move here, if they only want to change it.

My neighbours barking dogs problem solved.

1/I have installed quadruple (not double) glazing.
2/We have purchased a sound machine(only a few euros) and go to sleep to the sound of waves gently lapping the shores.
3/We wear earplugs, and funny enough when you get used to them you don't know you,ve got them in.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz,,,,,,,,,,
