Air Conditioner problem

Hi All,
Horror of horrors, My aircon is working fine, but I have just noticed water is pouring down the wall below it. It looks as if the drain to the air-con is the cause. Please could anyone recommend an air con technician who I could call tomorrow morning to come to look at it and hopefully sort it out?

Many thanks for any useful advice, please. It would have to happen just now when the really hot weather has started...

Bad news Dee, it's always happens when it's the weekend & nobody is working …………… I've had it several times! Can give you the contact details of my guy if you want but he is maxed out & won't be able to get to you for a few days! Hopefully, someone here will be able to help you out sooner!

PS. sounds like your drain channel is blocked, maybe you can free it with a cotton bud or something?

The drain pipe could be blocked inside the bottom of the indoor fan/evaporator unit, (simple access cover), OR where it vents / empties to outside (spiders nest or similar inside the pipe)

Just a question, your not using the air con with a door or window open are you? If so the water would be condensation. If not it will be the drain it's an easy fix if you are handy.

Just a thought when your aircon unit is working OK again. I have covered all of our aircon outside drain pipes with pieces of muslin tied on with tie-wraps. This let's the water out, but stops ants, etc., climbing up inside.

I went to see Chris Cool this morning iin the old town area. He does both car and domestic aircons. He is happy to wotk at the week end, which is worth remembering if you are in the position that I was in. He was busy doing car air cons this morning,plenty of clients waiting in the hot conditions. But he said that he would come to me this afternoon which he duly did. He said at once it was a blocked outside drain which it proved to be. He rodded it with his long flexible hose. Cleared it out. Then checked the unit, finished with the sanitising speay which kills bacteria. For good measure he checked and cleaned a bedroom air con, then sprayed it wth the spray. Followed by the living room air-con. For all this, his charge was very reasonable. So, I would def. recommend him. He is a nice man and very helpful.

We also have a unit with a blocked drain , I have poked a cable as far as I can from inside the unit , no joy .

Our air con pipe work is all buried in the walls . Is there a common route that I might find the outlet ? Walking around the outside I can find no signs of water from the other units that are working ok .

It's usually bundled with the tubing that goes from the outside compressor unit into the wall.

My compressor is on the roof and as the drain needs to flow down hill , it is not in my case . Thanks for the idea though .

Buried pipes look neat , but they are a pain to repair . We also have a problem with the plumbing in one of our bath rooms . The hot and cold are reversed , no problem at the taps , but when you use the toilet you get a “hot flush “ , we just live with it .

One of the properties I look after had 3 aircon units which all drained into one channel buried in the walls & got blocked. Tried several times to unblock but failed, so the owner ended up having a new externally mounted drain channel fitted, connecting it to the "lowest" unit in the chain. Seems to have done the trick!

We had a blockage in our lounge A/C. Turned out the pipes went under the floor out the other side of the house but just to make thing difficult the pipe that expressed the water was found buried under the garden! It must have had a bend in the pipework under the floor because we could suck on the pipe with a flexible extension which would start the water running out, but it needed doing every couple of hours. We gave up and got a new inverter type with the compressor nearby, same side of the house this time!
