Hudswell, why would security even be on the negotiating table? Security is a global matter and global cooperation is needed, so why would the UK cut off it’s nose, or indeed the EU, to say, “we dont get what we want, we wont cooperate on security”
For ex forces, your surprising outdated on global security issues - it’s no longer a DEFENCE issue.... and future conflicts are more likely to be terrorism or cyber related, than in the field.

Re: EU Security After BREXIT
Jim, its the EU who are taking a hardline stance, not the UK it seems.Jimgward wrote: ↑Fri Jul 06, 2018 1:49 pm Hudswell, why would security even be on the negotiating table? 'Michel Barnier, the EU's chief Brexit negotiator, has stressed the need for 'realism' about post-Brexit security relations, which recognises 'what will no longer be possible'.
He has ruled out continued full access to EU databases used for security, policing and border control if the UK maintains its existing red line positions.'

Oh.... touchy Hudswell... the man with no name..... sorry, but you cannot take different stances onus has different threads, as your opinion and ‘persona’ seems to change....
Re: EU Security After BREXIT
The German representative at the European Commission declared that the position of the German Home Secretary Seehofer didn´t represent the position of the German government. Seehofer had said (in a letter to the EU brexit negotiators) that cooperation in the field of security must be an overriding concern in the negotiations. So Merkel doesn´t seem to be prepared to accept any price for that even though she stated that intensive cooperation in security matters is to be desired.Hudswell wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 6:02 pm Blocking the UK from the EU security process is just stupid..in fact more than that it is actively encouraging the ability of terrorism throughout Europe to prosper, but thankfully their seems to be some cool heads willing to challenge the Autocracy that is the ruling elite in Europe...
Re: EU Security After BREXIT
Yes maybe. But then those aiming for a hard Brexit could be put into the same category? Just think about it...
Re: EU Security After BREXIT
So you only want a hard brexit on some things, not others? That's like wanting a divorce but still expecting to be fed at mealtimes.
