Why you need a dashcam...

I have footage from my (must have) dash camera of another woman driving straight into the side of my car, nearly seeing off my dog, she said as I was on the main road and she had come off an unmade road from the Gym that I slowed up and why she hit me, well when I showed her the footage from my camera she could not apologise enough, she paid for the damage, if you have not got a Dash-cam and drive in this area do get one.

32 gig micro SD card needed.
We have one of these it is brilliant, there is a 32gig card that gives you 8 hours recording on the top setting.
very good at night time as well.
Even used it when we purchased it in UK from Halfords.

The importance of having a dashcam was perfectly illustrated to me yesterday, as you can see from the video below. Had there been an accident, it would be evident where blame would lie.

Best viewed Full Screen. And before anyone says anything, dashcam footage always makes the car appear to be going faster than it actually is.

We had a similar incident at that very same spot! Wasn't her though! Some locals don't appear to know the highway code, or perhaps theirs is different!

That is exactly the reason that in Germany it is against the law to use a Dashcam while driving...

Better not to have dashcam footage here. On the demo runs which I published, there were no identifiable cars. The legal situation of publishing any identifiable wrongdoing by a third party could be interpreted as an invasion of privacy. If, perchance, you published a criminal act, the courts may take a dim view of it (and you could possibly even find a bomb under your car at 03:00 one night). Discretion is the better part of valour!

Well when else would you use it. ?? It is all automatic, you are not involved at all in the videoing of what is going on in front of the camera .

As I am watching every day German News I am informed. That's why I posted. It is still not legal to use dashcams permanent even when it makes not much sense to me after the court decision...

If you read that article it says it is still illegal.I don't think anybody is saying it is a good law. It isn't. It's silly.

Thanks for the recommendation...A couple of questions...Being useless at anything technical..I should obviously have it fitted properly , again any recommendations..Do I need to buy the wire kit & memory card. Thanks!

Never bought one, but just about every camera doesn't come with a micro SD card, so factor that in. Also, don't get the cheapest you can find. If you are recording film you will want to get one that can cope with the data rate. You can normally tell on an Amazon listing what else people buy when they buy a product. That will give you some clue.

Yes, if you look at the bottom of the listing, you will see people bought a hard wire kit and an SD card too.

Dash-cams, I have had several over the years, mine all came with SD cards, all work in similar ways, easy to set up normally, but can be a little fiddly, I have three short edited films of crashes that have happened in front of me, I even offered the SD card as proof to a Cypriot chap who gladly used it in his claim.I careless what the Germans think of dash-cams I think driving on Cyprus they are essential, I feel very vulnerable if I took mine off for any reason, just one warning it gets hot here (honestly) and this heat through your windscreen "can" damage the camera, this happened to me so watch out for this.

I am using this model from Amazon now, metal body seems to be more reliable, had this now for two summers.

Brand to buy is Next Base , quality is superb and the service second to none , it comes with the wiring for the car and for downloading to computer , you will need to buy a card , buy good quality and a 32 gb . The picture quality is briliiant both day and night ,
Just one thing if your car has the "black dotted " area around the rear view mirror dont fit the dash cam sucker there , it will soon fall off ,
Any problems an e mail to Next Base usually get a quick response and if you need a new sucker this is sent very quickly and free of charge.
