Which bird is that please? (pics)

Post by cyprusmax47 »

I rescued this little fellow as he crashed against the window, like many do in my place. Luckily he recovered after some hours indoors in the cage I have for this reason. But what is it? The Cyprus warbler looks different...

He was not very nervous and did not try to escape through the bars..

but then I think he had enough and was begging to come out. Perhaps he has already babies to feed? Experts here will tell...
So I released him back to freedom. Hope he learned his lesson and avoid my windows.

It looks like a Lesser Whitethroat Sylvia curruca!

If you want to deter birds from flying into your windows you can stick on some Birds of Prey transfers which should help?

Thank you Shane, yes it looks like a Sylvia curruca. The only thing which is different is it's tail which is like from a wren, most of the time, up.!

I think it won't work with stickers. All my large sliding windows/doors have glasses like a mirror and the birds can see the nearby bushes/trees in them.
As there are hundreds of birds in my place (including sparrows, which never crashed into windows in the past years) there are several accidents every year, even in winter. The only thing I can think about to change would be to add sliding window fly screens. But I am only renting here and the landlord is not spending any money on this property.

In my hibiscus hedge are at least 10 birds feeding on green fly, which they love ( and I love that they are doing it, no need spraying chemicals)
