The hard bit was I was coming home after a day out on my own. I had done two hikes and was knackered, but thought I could just do a bit more offroading...

Then I had to dig the car out.

Dominic,
It sounds quite macho and no doubt you are very experienced, but Isn’t it a bit risky continually going way off the beaten track so to speak by yourself? If you happen to be in an area with poor or no mobile reception and something goes wrong. Or god forbid you have an accident, wonder if you have a plan “B”in case of extreme need?

Plan B is dig my way out! There is nothing "macho" about liking exploring though. My wife enjoys it just as much.
