Can you get a MEU3 if you can prove that you´ve lived here for more than 5 years but have applied for your MEU1 only recently?

Jeba this is a really good question as there are many in the same boat who may have lived here for over 5 years and have all the proof needed but don't have or have only recently got their MEU1. I am yet to get feedback from anyone who has managed this so If anyone has, please post.

Can someone tell me - given that you still need to get together all the documents required, and that you clearly have to attend the immigration office in person - what is the advantage of using Gwenny, or any other intermediaries?????

Morning

There is no advantage is using an agent, if you can use a printer scanner then you have all you need, it is not rocket science it is easy to do yourself if you can get all you need together. the actual process is not long-winded we only spent an hour in the office even though it was packed many of those waiting were agents with their clients, there is no reason not to do it yourself.

the list of what you need, they did not look at my five years bank statements, but they may yours.

Thanks for that. Second question - the list requires a copy of a marriage certificate. Whilst I was married I've been divorced over 40 years - far longer than I was actually married - so can't see the relevance of a marriage certificate. Has anyone come across this situation???

There is an interesting article in this morning’s Guardian suggesting that the EU want member states to take a common approach to British citizens wishing to remain in the EU legally afte the UK leave.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... SApp_Other

I wonder whether this will replace the need for MEU3 forms, or whether Cyprus will ignore the decision - if it is made.

I think they only need a marriage certificate if you are married.

The government website has a list of what may be required & it's not the one you posted here!

Here's the link http://www.moi.gov.cy/moi/crmd/crmd.nsf ... enDocument
Application form & list of recommended documents at the foot of the page.

The MEU3A is the application form you fill in to apply for your MEU3 certificate ,hence the A.

Mike

That is the form they gave us at the Immigration, and we adhered to this, no problems MEU3 on the way, it takes about three weeks to be posted to us.

You will get this form when as you will need to do get an appointment at the Immigration, the very same as I have posted Mike I think you had better see the horse's mouth not what you may find elsewhere.

It may clear this up Lloyd but will they believe you :)

And Smudger you will need an appointment to ask about your ex-marriage status when you go down, I'm sure you will not be the only divorcee or indeed single person to apply.

Again that is the application form they gave us not via the Government site that has been suggested, and for sure you will not need an agent, believe me.

Can someone please explain just what his "no hassle" service entails, given that you have to both collate the required documents yourself and then present them at immigration. What exactly is it that Gwenny does??

I took copies of 5 years bank statements and they kept the originals and left me with the copies, which I wasn't expecting. They also took my photo at the time.......I asked her to try and make me look younger but I think something was lost in the translation :D Joyce

Smudge.

As posted you will not need an agent, well, anyone who can use a printer/scanner, you will need most of that on that list, it is a simple procedure we found. cannot see what all this fuss is about, to be honest, you will need to go and make an appointment, of course, then they will give you a date and time to attend, and give you that form already posted.

Dee morning, you ask;

Personally, I have never needed an agent and for sure we never found the need this time, the staff in the Immigration were helpful and the lady dealing with most applications was lovely, had a laugh when she asked we had been married for 52 years, asked how many children we had with a smile, they were all happy staff laughing and joking with us all, LUCK had nothing to do with our application we had duplicated everything on the list if you do this then you will not have any problems. Honestly, I cannot see what any agent will do to make this process any easier than it already is, just take your fee I guess.

It was the same when our Title Deeds were available, all on CL said you need a solicitor and your agent with you, odd because we didn't need either. Same this time Dee :)

We've never had any issues dealing with the authorities, be they immigration, VAT or whatever, on our own. Occasionally you might witness an intra-office shouting match between work colleagues, but that would always have been followed by profuse apologies. Besides, they were fun to watch. :)

Personally, I would save my money for something else.

As the MEU3 is not compulsory , I will not be applying just yet . If it does become a “must have” we will have until June 2021 to get one , and people on here have told how easy it is to do .

Everyone must make up their own mind .

Acquiring the right of permanent residence

As an EU national, you automatically acquire the right of permanent residence in another EU country if you have lived there legally for a continuous period of 5 years. If you fulfil this requirement, you can apply for a permanent residence document, which confirms your right to live in the country where you now live permanently, without any conditions.

This is different from the registration certificate which is compulsory in many countries. The permanent residence document is not compulsory.

But it can be useful when dealing with the authorities or for administrative formalities. The authorities may no longer require you to prove that you have a job, sufficient resources, health insurance, and so on.
