Need to do a full year before judgement of the economic benefits.
Just surprised me as to how many extras were lumped on to the bill....
I think it is not only about economics. Producing my own electricity in the past made me very proud on top of doing something for the environment..

Running a so called stand alone system (not connected to the grid) in the late 90th made me learn not to waste energy any more. 12 years later I installed a 20 kWp PV which gives more than 1000 Euro/month return from EAC for 15 years. ROI is already happening.

Well I got my latest bill today for the last two months. It is a lot better, a number of items on the last bill would seem to be once a year ones.. We have photo voltaic panels and we produced 92 kwh more than we used.. So those 92 units are the start of building up the yearly credit..

My bill reads as below..

Meter reading 0.98
Electricity supply 4.68
Producers charge (3kw x 6.172) 18.52
Producers Public service obligation (3kw x 0.174) 0.52
total net metering charges 19.04.

Producers RES 7 ES fund. (3kw x 2.683) 8.05
VAT (19%) 4.70

Total bill for 2 months 37.45 Euros...

So I am reasonably pleased with the overall bill, even though it is 6 euros more than last years two monthly bills.

Just a thought, but aren't EAC responsible for collecting the UK equivalent of the TV Licence periodically, in with their leccy bills?

They got rid of that in the late 1990s , I think Greece still have it in their leccy bill .

When I lived I France they used to have it in with the rates .

Sorry to drift off topic slightly, but does that mean that TV users in Cyprus (including internet) have NO tv licence to pay to the Gov (and state tv service) each year?

Yes, I was charged for all these same extra charges too. I feel like EAC is really caneing people who have installed a PV net metering system... I hope that in the sunnier summer months with longer daylight hours there will be a reduction in my elec bills.
But whatever happens EAC must be winning with the power(no pun intended!) to add all these extra charges.... why do producers of PV power have to pay twice into the RES & ES Fund?

TV Licence.

There is no service to pay for Al, it is now digital here so you pay as a subscriber, not that many ex-pats would though as the service is dire and why most Brits use streaming UKTV. So no TV licence is needed.

We were going over to Photovoltaic Net metering with 14 panels, but thought better of it, at 71 years of age we doubted we could recover the cost of them (€6.5K). We live in a small well insulated home and our power needs are fairly low as is our electricity bills, swimming pool is paid as a community charge that is also low and well run.

Alan, I hope you're well.

Cyprus used to have an indirect but obligatory tax for CyBC, its state-run public broadcasting service. The tax was added to electricity bills, and the amount paid depended on the size of the home. By the late 1990s, it was abolished due to pressure from private commercial radio and TV broadcasters. CyBC is currently funded by advertising and government grants.

But if you use Cyta for tv service , I think there is a fee to pay .

This string is about Photo Voltaic power. NOT TV licenses.
Why not start another topic?

What does RES & ES Fund mean? What is it for and who has to pay it? Only PV producers?

I thought that Dee.. However I am pleased that some of the added items on the last bill, seem to be once a year ones.. Although the payable amount has gone up by around 6 euros, I am still happy the the consumed electricity is 'free'..

It is explained on the backside of the electricity bill! Everybody has to pay this little amount of 0.01/kWh. If you have less kWh if you produce your own electricity, then you have also less RES to pay....
( and by the way we are having a new tariff #1 now)
