Wizz air
Wizz air
Have any forum members flown with this company? what have your experiences been, I was going to book with them, but they come over a bit of a Dell boy outfit, lots of hidden extras, and if I read it rightly, they dont guarantee you will be able to take a cabin bag on with you.
Re: Wizz air
I was put off by their site, it seemed to try and trick you into clicking on things, you didnt want, such as the extra insurance, you think your clicking No, but it was the opposite, and it said that if there was no room, you might be charged for your cabin bag, got the feeling the thing had been set up by Arthur Daley
Re: Wizz air
I flew Wizz Air from Larnaca to Sofia in March and they were absolutely OK. No frills, but no problems either. Food and drink was available, seats were OK, check-in procedure was fine, customer service was fine, flight was on time. I had no problem navigating the website, didn't end up with anything I didn't want, and they also have a decent mobile app.
Re: Wizz air
I always thought that Wizz was a Polish outfit, but it is actually a private Hungarian airline formed (phoenix-like) from the collapse of the state carrier Malev. A bit like Cyprus Airways becoming Cobalt.
I know many people who have flown Wizz to Europe out of LTN and never heard a single complaint. General concensus of opinion is that they are on a par with easyJet, rather than the poison leprecaun's outfit, RyanAir.

Re: Wizz air
My wife and I fly with Wizzair to Belgrade just before Xmas and return at the beginning of April. We have done this for 4 years. We find that if you join their frequent flyer type programme at about €30 per year (covers 2 people travelling) it more than covers the cost in reduced fares. We also book the full fare which includes 32kg each of hold luggage a small cabin bag and a larger cabin bag not exceeding 10kg. If you do this when it comes to choosing your seat in the on-line booking process all seats are available at no extra charge, whereas if you don't purchase the full fare you might have to pay extra for some seats depending on location.
When booking on-line you do have to navigate through pages offering insurances, car hire etc. but scroll down and press the 'next' button.
At the airport they do check the size of hand luggage only if you have not purchased the full fare option. Full fare also gives priority boarding.
Seating room is as per usual economy airlines. Food is available as per usual economy airlines
We have no complaints and are only too happy that Wizzair fly twice a week to Belgrade from Larnaca. We do book at least 2 months in advance and pay about €100 maximum for one-way flights for two people.

Re: Wizz air
Interestingly enough, I've never had anything but a good experience with Ryanair either, having flown with them I think 8 times now. I'm beginning to wonder if I've just been lucky ....or then again maybe it's just because I know what to expect and follow their rules?PaphosAL wrote: ↑Tue May 08, 2018 6:39 pm I always thought that Wizz was a Polish outfit, but it is actually a private Hungarian airline formed (phoenix-like) from the collapse of the state carrier Malev. Re: Wizz air
Fair comment, Oxfordboy. I've never flown Ryanair (and never intend to). But my daughter has flown with them many times, and has no complaints... I guess I just don't like O'Learey's attitude to customers and staff.

Re: Wizz air
I must admit to being a Ryanair fan. I am quite a regular flyer and am flying 8 times this year using Ryanair plus additional with Aegean and Jet2. I really have nothing at all bad to say about them.
My daughter-in-law is Latvian and uses Wizz Air regularly to Riga from the Uk with no complaints.

Re: Wizz air
Strangely, Jeanne, that's where our UkCvs host is based. We suspect in an old Cold War nuclear bunker deep underground, backed up with generators and so on. Super fast, 100% reliable, and (most important) very cheap each year, with relaxed personal info involved. Not bad for an EU country!
Thought that Dom might go for summat similar on his recent PL host change, but he decided on Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Cheers- AL

Re: Wizz air
I invariably have to fly 3 times a year with either Ryanair or Easyjet. No probs with either, apart from the charges for luggage, seats etc. Service is fine, happy with it.
Re: Wizz air
Jacs- if Wizzair fly from PFO to one of your preferred UK destinations, then please give them a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed, tbh...
