Max's pic of the weekend (13)

Post by cyprusmax47 »

Very soon the pretty green will be gone. The question is where are the horses enjoying their time...

I agree. I'd like that olive tree in my front garden.

That is a lovely picture Max. What month was it taken as the grass is so green.

If your front garden is big enough Robert, why not this one... :)

What a beautiful tree. That looks to have some serious age on it Max. What would the diameter of that trunk be?

This one was more wide than round, about 2-2.5 m! I did not go close enough to tell you exactly as it was very prickly and "snakey" there..
but for sure more than 500 years old..

Fantastic Max. Thanks so much for sharing. I love old olive trees. They are all so individual and beautiful.

This was one of my first blogs. I think I deleted some of the pics by mistake, but you can see how magnificent this old olive tree was:

I recognise Max's tree too! I was there the other day, researching a blog. I think it's even bigger than the one in the original blog. I didn't see any snakes but it was very prickly.

As I said before, it is not easy to guess how much diameter it is. I was at least 400 m away when I recognized some ruins on the other side of the valley and this huge olive tree was very dominant even from this distance. It was one of these days without the dust, so it was easy to zoom in. But when Dominic was there recently, maybe he remembers the exact size of the tree...?

It was bigger than the one I posted above, that's for sure. You will have to wait for the new blog to see it up close though. Not sure when it will be going up. I have a bit of a backlog at the moment. It won't be a blog just about the tree though, it will be about an abandoned village that's next to it.

I've heard on the grapevine that some of these old olive trees scattered around the island can be 1,000 years old!

Amazing! AL :D
