Have looked at the article and I can't see that the woman shown "naked" is showing anything rude. If it is the female boss who sacked them over the phone......she needs to get a life. well done the men who have resigned in protest. What will Whitby do now if there is an emergency. are we sure it is not "FAKE" news.

No it's not fake news or an April fool, the protest against the sackings was all over the local news....PC brigade gone mad.
Might be an idea to send the 'female boss' out in a force ten gale, I can't imagine she would be too worried about a couple of stupid mugs then !

A ridiculous situation which should never have happened. If the 'female boss' couldn't find something more important to occupy her time, then she doesn't deserve her position. Anyone know who the 'female' is ? We have the identity of the men involved.

Hardly "lifeguards".
This is the RNLI we're talking about and as I understand it, they've now lost 6 RNLI volunteers as we're approaching what is supposed to be a warm bank holiday weekend.

People are already making their feelings known publicly and claiming to be stopping their direct debit funding until someone gets this sorted out.

We see so much activity where we live now after returning from Cyprus between Fleetwood, Blackpool, Heysham RNLI and jointly with the relevant Coastguard authorities, it's difficult to comprehend how often they are dragged out on hoax or wasted calls....

In 2016 New Brighton RNLI had a number of the volunteers 'sacked' so this is far from the first time this sort of thing has happened

Scarborough RNLI had a volunteer who had served for 35 years 'sacked' last year. Seems to me that there is a disconnect between the management and the volunteers. If they don't sort it soon they will begin to lose public support.

Also last year there was a huge mess with the Jersey RNLI. One staff member was dismissed and the whole crew walked with him. He did get reinstated but it took months to resolve....

Yes Happy in Cyprus, agree. The politically correct merchants, human rights and do gooders whilst as well meaning as they are will never understand that (and who said it) "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" :?

Obviously nothing better to do, that or showing off the 'big hat' they think they wear.

I had a look on the RNLI facebook page. There were loads of posts there from annoyed members of the public. The general response from RNLI was "Yes, two members have been stood down. For legal reasons we cannot say anything further at the moment".

However, one reply from them went into a bit more depth:

"RNLI Hi Johnny, while we are restricted in what we can say for legal reasons, we can confirm that there has been an investigation at Whitby resulting in two volunteers being stood down. The investigation focussed on the production of inappropriate material of a sexual nature and associated social media activity directed at an RNLI staff member. We want to stress that this was not a trivial matter. The lifeboat station should be an environment where people can expect to be treated with dignity and respect. We cannot allow bullying, harassment or discrimination in what should be a safe and inclusive environment. Thanks"

This may indicate that there is more to the story than has so far been released to the Press. I don't know. I would just say wait and see how it pans out before you cancel any standing orders...
