Your Privacy- In Brief

Post by Dominic »

You may or may not be aware of a new piece of legislation that is being pushed out in May 2018, across the EU. The GDPR governs your privacy online, and relates to what businesses can do with your data.

I've tried to make the policy as friendly as possible, but these are the key points:

1. All your data can be edited by you.
2. Paphos Life uses SSL security to encrypt data sent from your browser to the server.
3. If you are an advertiser, none of your payment information is stored, and payment is taken using a secure third party.
4. If you ever want us to delete your account, I will do so. This will include all your posts, if you want. I cannot automatically delete posts where you are quoted however, you will need to hilight these manually.
5. Outside of passwords, no data is encrypted in the database. All posts and private messages are saved in plain text. This is how the forum software, phpBB works. I only found this out a few days ago, when asked by a user to look for a private message draft of theirs that had gone stray. However, I am taking this opportunity to state that your PMs will remain private, unless you specifically ask me to look at a message. You should however be aware, when using any phpBB forums, and probably other forums as well, that your private messages are visible to the site owner.
6. The site shares browsing data with Facebook (like button), Google Analytics (internal reports) and Google Adsense (targetted advertising).
