unexpired car insurance.Rebate?

Post by Chaddy »

I have now sold my old but much cherished old banger and not replaced it with another one.I contacted (with much difficulty) my insurance broker with regards some sort of rebate on the unexpired 4 months left to run on the insurance. The reply I got (and I,m posting this hoping it will help others) was "this is usually not done in Cyprus. :?
They,ve been taking my yearly premiums off me like b****y greased lightning every year.Of course when you want something back :(

I agree with WHL above, I'm also with Atlantic and only use my car during summer months when we come over on holiday or family come over. I always suspend my insurance from fully to 3rd party only when not in use and stored at the airport. they always give me a rebate on this and I get the reduction when renewing. hope this may help Chaddy. You are entitled to a rebate so I would not just accept that thats the way we do it it in Cyprus.

We got a rebate from Abbeygate when we sold a car. They did take an admin charge. Never heard of a company not giving a rebate before! :o

We too suspend our insurance with Atlantic, from fully comp to just fire and theft, when we are in the UK. We usually amass five months, but it is only worth doing for a calendar month.

I had 2 cars up until last summer when I sold one, when I went in to renew the insurance, on the car I had kept, they pointed out I had 120 Euro credit from the one I had sold, so they took it off the renewal.

I am also with Atlantic and as I am away from Cyprus for several months a year I also get a refund for these months so last year my insurance was 300 Euro but after rebates I only paid 130 euro.

When we sold our car we asked Abbeygate for a refund on the unused insurance.

By the time they had taken all there fees there was very little money left for us.
