Postcard from North Wales

We arrived back at Manchester Airport at 1am on 13th April. Weather quite chilly but nothing like it was last time we were here when we were suffering from the Beast from the East.
While the weather was still cool, I did just one long bike ride, to Talacre and back, 43 miles with the wind blowing me there but 10% power on for the ride back. Also did lots of walks locally along the prom, just as I do in Cyprus.

Still spring when we returned. Daffodils at their best and the primroses have been outstanding, both wild ones, (cowslips) and cultivated ones.

There was still snow on the mountains, which disappeared when we had the warm weather last weekend. (21st and 22nd April)
it was so warm I decided to start my walk around the Anglesey Coast path. Last autumn, I walked from Bangor Pier to Beaumaris and a few weeks ago, when it was below freezing, Rach and I walked from Moelfre to City Dulas. Rosemary dropped me off at Moelfre and I walked to the bottom half of Red Wharf Bay. On the following day, I got the bus to Beaumaris, and walked from there to Red Wharf.

The beginning of my walk. Temperature on the coast 18c but a glorious spring day and felt much warmer in the sun.

Traeth Bychan. The tide was in so I had to take the inland route. Never have this problem in Cyprus.

I was very surprised to spot an eagret at the bottom part of Red Wharf Bay. The last one I saw was on one of my walks along the coast path at Paphos.

I walked on to Llanddona where Rosemary picked me up. The next day I did the walk from Beamaris to Llanddona. I was surprised at how busy Beaumaris was.

The views on this walk were fantastic. I could see the whole of the route I took last year from the Great Orme to Bangor Pier. Also the views of the mountains were outstanding, particularly later in the day when the mist came down.

These, I was told, were Brent Geese. There must have been over a hundred of them.

I walked on inland to Penmon Abbey and then down to the coast.

A lot of this coastal walk was inland, walking parallel with the coast.

From this photo, the end of my 10 mile walk was in sight.

On Monday we had a phone call from our lawyer in Cyprus. Totally out of the blue but we have to go back to sign some legal documents, so we have brought our flight forward by a fortnight and come out in a couple of days. We had our Cyprus phones on, as we have been using them here, as calls are cheaper than our UK mobiles.

On Sunday, another not very warm day, we went to Chester to watch Rach complete the Chester Half Marathon. She got a PB, completing it in 1hr 50 mins.

We were very lucky with the weather but this week it has been cold again and we have had to have the central heating on. Temperature that is forecast on Friday in Paphos is 31c so a difference of 20c between North Wales and Cyprus.

Is the first photo of the church St Trillo in Rhos on Sea.........many happy memories of home.....

Yes. When I was recovering from my heart bypass last February, I got a great sense of achievement by walking to here and then on to Rhos where Rosemary picked me up. It is almost two miles from our home in Penrhyn Bay.
