Building Work Noise.

Post by RattyPatty »

Does anyone know the rules about when noisy building work cannot be done. I know on big projects it cannot start before 7.00 am. We have just returned to find that a house 6 doors down from us is being completely gutted an new window openings made.

They started work yesterday, Saturday, morning at 7.00 am ( made worse by the fact that we only got to bed at 3.00 am because our flight was delayed) and this morning they have started drilling, banging and grinding at 9.00 am. Due to the construction of the house over here the noise is travelling through 6 houses and it could be next door.

Not a very welcome return 😞

There is a lot of building going on in Universal in Paphos and many of the sites are working on Sunday. I have already posted a topic about this.

I am guessing that they want to get it all finished before the high season.

Very noisy on Universal every day of the week.

Not on Universal just a housevon has been sold on my complex and is practically being rebuilt. Just found out from a neighbour that they only work Saturday and Sunday. It's going to be a long job!

If you have inconsiderate Neighbours there isn’t much you can do. We had 5 weeks of a similar problem some years ago when work was only carried out at weekends & evenings. The large building companies are not allowed to work before 7am or Sundays.

Officially but it does not stop them.

It does if you phone the police.

It's all covered in the Local Municipiality Bye-Laws, surely? Under the general heading of Disturbance of the Peace.

So if the Fuzz choose to turn a blind eye to the aggravation being caused, then the next port of call HAS to be the local Muktar!

As far as I now there is no law which states, building work can not be done seven days a week, there is an agreement between unions and bosses about what time workers begin work....so its pointless say the fuzz turn a blind eye.

Hate to mention this cos i,ll probably get some flack off members...There are limitations to stop building work going on seven days a week to give us all a bit of peace, and understandable..Yet try to get your neighbours dog from barking 24/7 ...Sorry dog owners

There are limitations about that too, I believe. The issue is with their enforcement.
