MEU3.Is it nessesary??

Heard something today from an acquaintance. A friend of theirs went to apply in Paphos for the MEU3 and they refused to even look at the paperwork when the marriage certificate was found not to have been apostilled. So, acquaintance went to a "fixer" who said it was true and to get it sent by DHL, which fixer offered to do. Don't know where it was sent to! The forms supposedly required do not mention marriage certificate and I, for one, cannot see what relevance it has on proving you have lived here long enough to apply for an MEU3! Has anyone else been asked for this? I know they often ask for it for people from outside EU. However we are still in the EU! Is it just another case of making the rules up as they go along?

Anyone know where/how you can get said Certificate apostilled?

When we were in the UAE our wedding Certificate was apostillated by the UK Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Would think the HC in Nicosia could do the same, but then again.....

Also, when we went to Immigration the other day to arrange an appointment for an MEU3 I showed our Certificate to the girl at reception and she said if you have an MEU1 already you 'probably' don't need to produce that at the interview! Watch this space.
