If Richards wins, one good outcome could be that we never see any of his awful old footage being repeated on the BBC.

Good job that we don't all think this way.

The likes of Cilla, Brucie, Cliff and many others have been entertaining the British nation for decades unlike todays five minute wonders. Don't knock it.

Uncle D: That's not very nice, I totally agree with William Morris on this. I, too, hope that he wins his court case and is awarded millions of Pounds to be paid by the British Taxpayers on behalf of the BBC and that the DG then resigns.

Sir Cliff has not been convicted of any offence.

I saw Cliff Richard live at Knebworth 90. I had gone to see Pink Floyd and he was on some time before them.

Thanks to the TV show "The Young Ones" with Ric Mayall et al, I knew enough of his output to be able to sing along to some of his songs. He was bloody good live.

I am allowed an opinion after having to grow up listening to his tacky rubbish.
His Real name is Harry Webb so Richard or Richards are both wrong.
He certainly gained his fame and fortune by appearing on the BBC on numerous occasions, even having his own shows, now hes after another payout from them after all these years.

'Having to grow up listening to his tacky rubbish ', so who was so cruel to you, to force that upon you ?

I for one just loved the film 'Summer Holiday', light hearted, good music, no bad language, true entertainment. Ah yes the wonderful sixties.

It's time the media answered for their actions if they are obviously in the wrong, and if it's costs them, so much the better.

I just checked the list, it says, Cliff Richard's name seems to have been added as pure malice ! So what are YOU saying ?

And Ive seen quite a few lists, with his name on the list... I dont know if ite true or false, neither do you know for sure, I dont base my views on whether I like someones singing or not, I leave it up to the Police, they seem to think there was enough evidence to contact a search of his house... I honestly hope he wasnt involved in that horrible stuff.

That list has been very widely discredited. It was too late for Leon Brittan, who died with his reputation in tatters before his name was cleared.

Honestly, peddling shitty lists like that serves no purpose but to encourage the con artists who made it up in the first place. Police must have wasted 1000s of hours investigating that bollocks when they could have been investigating real cases.

The trouble is Dominic the Police, have to investigate any lists no matter how phony they might be, after all people like Cyril smith and Savile....got away with their crimes for years, before their victims were taken seriously

If Clkiff Richard wins the case , as I hope he does , any damages should not come out of the licencre fee but be paid by the directors of the BBC , they authorised the disgusted whitch hunt

But WHL, it's people like you who try to bring credence to these lists.

So let them get on with their job, rather than spread malicious tat. The more people who peddle the rubbish the more the police have to investigate, just to shut up the muck spreaders, who then moan that it takes to long to get convictions.

If you read what I wrote you will see I said, maybe the Police had to act because, his name was mentioned in the past, I also said I didnt know if it was true or false, and I hoped it wasnt true

This is the final part of Liam Brittan's WIkipedia entry:

Allegations pursued by Tom Watson MP
In June 2014, Brittan was interviewed under caution by police in connection with the alleged rape of a 19-year-old student in his central London flat in 1967, before he became an MP. They had not pursued the allegation when it was first made, on the grounds of insufficient evidence. The police reopened the investigation after Alison Saunders, the Director of Public Prosecutions, had been lobbied by Labour MP Tom Watson to investigate further.[34] In a statement on 7 July 2014, Brittan denied the claims.[35] At the time of his death, Brittan had not been told by the police that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute him for the alleged rape of the woman.[36] The deputy assistant commissioner of the Met, Steve Rodhouse, wrote a letter of apology to the solicitors of Brittan's widow.[37]

In October 2014, a Labour MP used parliamentary privilege to refer to claims that Brittan had been linked to child abuse.[38][39] After Brittan died in January 2015, Watson accused him of "multiple child rape"; he said he had spoken to two people who claimed they were abused by Brittan. [40] A journalist further alleged that Brittan had abused a pre-pubescent boy at Elm Guest House in mid-1982.[41] In March 2015, it was reported that detectives from Operation Midland, set up by the Metropolitan Police to investigate claims of child sex abuse, had visited and searched two homes in London and Yorkshire formerly owned by Brittan.[42] On 21 March 2016, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Operation Midland had been closed without any charges being brought.[43]

On 1 September 2017 it was reported that the Metropolitan Police had paid substantial compensation to Brittan's widow for having raided the Brittans's home "after accepting that the searches had been unjustified and should never have taken place."[44]

Its a massively complex case and needed many inquiries to find out the facts
