Max's pic of the weekend (10)

Post by cyprusmax47 »

Not a view at a concrete jungle but a nice Paphos countryside from which village?

With this close up showing the nice cloud shadows on the hills it is perhaps more easy to guess where we are..

Given that you said you spent Easter near Simou and Evretou, and that it looks very similar to a shot I posted in a blog about a journey that went near Simou and Evretou, I would hazard a guess that you are near Simou and Evretou. If I was forced to choose between the two I would say Simou.

You must have the memory of an elephant, Dominic, ( I could not remember that I posted it ) but you're right with Simou where I was invited from our Paphos Deputy Mayor enjoying a delicious Easter feast. Here another pic from their house, showing the abandoned villages in the hills...
But then I thought this would be too easy to guess after your blogs about the area...

It must be Kios and higher up Zacharia, Alan, east of Melandra...

No Dominic, Sarama is at the bottom of the area with a lot of farming sheds (look at Google map) The villages I mean are Instinjon (Greek Kios) where you did a nice blog. One can see the mosque on my snippet pic and the farm on the left hand side. Further up is Zacharia and on the top left hand side one can see a building on top of the hill, which is the same hill you photographed at Melandra village, photo #9.(in the Gallery) Down from this house on the cliff, that is Zacharia...

You are quite right. Your elevated position threw me. You cannot see the gentle valley that lies between Melandra and Istinjo in your photo. When you drive through the area you get a completely different viewpoint.
