Kouba and/or Koupes
Following on from Brengreens thread on Flaoumes ......
...... I just love to chow down on a Kouba or two. Big, big squeeze of lemon juice.
I have had them from several places on the island, including oop norf, and have never been disappointed.
Lots of different recipes and flavours but all very good.
Sitting on the patio, sunny afternoon, glass of "juice", two koupes. Lovely.

Re: Kouba and/or Koupes
Loved the meat (keema) koupes when we lived in Cyprus.... used to like them for my lunchtime snack, and served cold rather than hot.
I do miss these and it would probably be worth the trip back just to taste them again, along with a bit of salad and tahini but hopefully, I will get my tahini fix in a few weeks time when we're back in Egypt
Was never a fan of the veggie/mushroom ones koupes though - I always found them a bit on the slimy side!
As for Flaunes - nope, you can keep them. Even the dogs turned their noses up at them, including our Cyprus rescue

Great when just out of the frying pan, hot and crunchy, not so good cold and soft

The meat ones I used to get were never soft, always crispy on the outside.... those mushroom ones though, ugh - seriously squishy!

Are these those brown sausage things they sell with lemon quarters in shops?

Never tried these, but from the sound of it, the Veggie / Mushroom version would be best served hot, after reheating for 20 minutes in the oven on gas mark 5 (190ºc for electric).
Trying to warm them up in a microwave would probably ruin them...

That’s right Dominic, it’s a savory mince filling wrapped in a bugler wheat casing, my wife buys them frozen from the supermarket and deep frys them at home.. very yummy and crunchy.
