Dental health in Cyprus

can anyone say whether they consider visiting a dentist for a chipped tooth is cheaper in Cyprus than in the UK. not counting NHS treatment as it is virtually impossible to find a dentist who will help other than private. Approx cost for a chipped tooth is about £95 to £110. coming over soon so would be grateful for any info.

I would say, go with the UK. You may be able to shop around for slightly cheaper here, but is it worth it.. What happens if you are not happy when you get back to the UK..

Some of my family members who live in London, actually prefer to have Dental treatment here, according to them it cost less for the same work, so while their here anyway for a holiday they visit the Dentist and have what ever is needed.

Only a dentist can tell you what it will cost, because two jobs are never the same.

My OH has booked an appointment in May with Dr Lenia to do a couple of fillings for him whilst we are out in Paphos for a holiday.

The work she carried out on his teeth (whilst we lived in Paphos) has been commented on by his UK dentist as 'of an excellent quality and standard.' It's a no-brainer as far as we are concerned, and I'm pretty sure it will be a lot cheaper in Cyprus too.

I have been a patient with Dr Lenia'for a long time. I fnd her good and very caring. The only thing I would say is that she has a large number of patients every day and is probably one of the busiest dentists in Paphos. You might have to wait a long time to get an appointment with her.
It might be worth either getting your tooth sorted out in the UK, or if you are in Paphos ask other people who they go to- as there are a number of good dentists there. One friend of mine goes to the dentist whose surgery is behind the market.She is pleased with the work done by this dentist.

Depends where you are....

We found an excellent one when we were in Limassol. €50 for an extraction and €150 for the total cost of a root canal treatment, no matter how many times you needed to go back for the washes etc.

She was from Bulgaria if I recall correctly.

NHS Dental treatment here in UK is a postcode nightmare! I'm lucky, living in Luton, where all the dentists are falling over themselves offering NHS treatment.

Whereas my daughter, 170 miles away in Worcester, has to go private. Not a single NHS dentist to be found! Something badly wrong with the system, methinks...

As if often the case here, we found lots of people have their favourites for services that they swear by - dentists, GP's, me chances etc etc. Based a on a few recommendation we went to Dr Lenia when we moved over and have been very happy. I nearly fell over when it came to pay after our first visit - €40 for a checkup and scale & polish - for both of us! Used to be about £100 in her UK. Also my wife has a problem tooth that needs a regular deep clean - price in UK was quoted as £500 (ok, it was Harley Street), Dr Lenia looks at the x-rays we brought over with us, agreed it needed doing and did it for €5. Amazing. Last check up neither of us needed a scale & polish - no charge at all. That's how you build customer loyalty in my book. Dee is right though, it is a very busy practice - how they make sense of the appointments book never ceases to amaze me!

The good wife uses dentist Lenia I prefer another, Laser Clinic in Chlorakas. Andreas now works on his own in his high tech surgery, all the latest equipment and he is reasonable regarding treatment cost's, I have used him for fifteen years, we grow old together; o)

At one time Cyprus was a bargain place to get good dental treatment and Ophthalmic eye testing and spectacles, unfortunately, times have changed these days, but you do not have to wait for treatment just ring the doorbell usually, they will see you while you are there, I have not been back to the UK since we arrived seventeen years ago, so I have no idea of UK treatment and it's cost and availability, but for sure you will not be disappointed with your dental care or eyesight testing here on the island.
