Cyprus won't take action against Russia as is member of security council
Cyprus is one of nine EU countries that have refused so far to expel Russian diplomats in the wake of Moscow's suspected involvement in the poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter in England....

I think we all know why Cyprus won’t upset Russia. It’s also too small to make a difference. However, what you sow, you reap. If they want the EU to support them against Turkey, then this doesn’t help. You can’t play with the big boys, then cry when someone knocks you over.

Its not a question ''If'' Cyprus wants the EU to help them, the EU has to follow the Law of the sea, and it has a Duty to support any of its members, being threatened by law breakers......Cyprus isnt the only EU country not expelling Russian diplomats..I guess country's like Ireland/Austria/Switzerland and Portugal are also in Russias pockets too?Jimgward wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 9:07 am I think we all know why Cyprus won’t upset Russia. Every country on the planet looks after its interests, and if that means playing both sides, then so be it, it isnt the first country and it wont be the last, im sure Cyprus does many things to help the Yanks etc without fanfare as not to upset the Russians.Hudswell wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 10:47 am I agree the EU should support Cyprus in its dealings with Turkey, and it will..and catch up Eire (Ireland) is expelling Russian Diplomats as are Belgium, Moldova and NATO is expelling Russian representatives. Cyorus is a Sovereign Country and whilst I respect its decisions it tends to play both sides of the coin...and one day it may indeed bite back.

Any one who reads your posts, understands your hatred for anything Russia/Russian, you have posted many many times to that effect, so please spare us, whats seems hard for you to understand is, many in Cyprus dont share your views on Russia, so get over it, you can post as much as you like, that dosnt make you right. As for Putin being evil, your probably correct, but has his actions killed more people then Blair's actions, no way near...Tony Blair's actions have caused more death and misery then Putin... theres evil people all over the world.Hudswell wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 11:27 am "We" now is that the Royal we? Because I don't "hate" the Russians, hate is a very strong word...I detest the Russian State, I think Putin is an evil man determined to reignite tension with the West in order to reestablish a Soviet State and as small as it is, Cyprus is important to his "plan" as it introduces a de-stabilising effect within the EU..and I am afraid I find the Cypriot response to the Russian States actions disappointing, as I suspect many Russians do as well.

Given that Cyprus is still in a relatively perilous economic position I can understand their position regarding Russia.
At the end of the day a tit for tat expulsion of diplomats is only really posturing.
Boris Johnson goes on about expelling spies and stopping England competing in the World Cup but he says nothing about the billions made by his cronies in the city laundering dodgy Russian money......until the UK Government starts to take financial sanctions against Russia, I believe Cyprus has every right to protect it's own interests.

Here’s an innovative thought. The eu invests in a trans eastern med pipeline and accelerated access to Cypriot, Egyptian and Israeli has , cutting off Russian supply in 5 years or less. That’ll hurt.

Politics is a messy game. Here we have hypocritical Johnson, defending taking money from any source....
We also have Corbyn being condemned as an anti-semi and racist - by a Tory party with more anti-semitism and racism in its ranks and history, than Corbyn has ever dreamt of. Corbyn may not be electable, but he is no racist.
