I believe it is at Kouklia. Right now it is again very bad PM10 with 347 micrograms/m3, but perhaps even more unhealthy the PM 2.5 which cannot be measured at Paphos station.. :?:

Nor me, it's worse than the Gulf, and lasting much longer. Has anyone heard when it's likely to subside?

Article finally with a warning in PaphosPress, the reading right now is even more with 710 microgram in Paphos.

a rather bad Google translation :

In an alarm state, Paphos is where the dust in the atmosphere reaches 623.5 micrograms per cubic meter.

I've still got a brand new dust mask out in my garage from my old Fire Alarm days (crawling around in old dirty fibre-glass laden lofts, pulling new cables).

Think I'll pack this for my next Paphos trip, and wear it when outside! I don't care if fellow pedestrians think I'm bonkers, it's what little that's left of my knackered lungs that I need to be concerned about...

You do see people here wearing hospital surgical masks, outside of a hospital environment.
Good to hear that you are coming back :-)

Totally and absolutely OFF TOPIC, but the next time I resurface in Paphos (14 to 28 Feb 2019), PL will be just over two years old, with well over 1,000 members.

Does anyone fancy the idea of a lunchtime PL gathering somewhere in Kato Paphos, like the Ambassador, perhaps? Been there a few times with friends, and food 'n ambience is spot on. Open to suggestions and ideas, of course. Would be very nice to meet and greet!

NOT off topic is my answer to your question concerning the link how to find the pollution forecast, which I did at great length. I can't be bothered in future.

Al, I saw a lady today with a proper surgical mask on walking the coast path. The dust has been bad over the last few days, but perhaps not as bad as when you were here. The sun has been shining today through the dust.

Thanks, Dom. But these 2 links are general weather-related. I'm looking for the sort of link that Max sometimes posts, giving prevailing atmoshperic dust levels over the Paphos region, and whether it's safe to go walkies outside (or not)...

AL :?
The easy one Alan is if you go on the PL webcam link and if you scroll down you find on the right hand side:http://cyprus-storms.net/weathercams/index.html

There is a small display: Desert Dust forecast...

The complicated one is if you use the first on the PL top link,(air pollution in Cyprus) open it, click on Paphos, click on full report, scroll down and you will find: "view the detailed forecast", click on that and it will open a huge map where you can choose which pollution forecast you want to watch, for example when you click on PM 2.5, or PM 10, or O3 etc.

Right this moment it is hazardous in Paphos with terrible 707 PM 10!!!!!!
