Anastasiades could start with changes in his own country Cyprus, allowing the installation of photo-voltaic systems more easy than it is now with all the administrative barriers from EAK, which is half Government controlled. It is very clear that producing PV power, the electricity provider tries to avoid that, as it is reducing their profit. For example in most European countries you are allowed to install micro systems producing electricity with 4-5 panels and an CE certificate inverter, which is then just plugged into the next best wall socket. In this way you reduce your electricity bill in daytime while the consumption of all your appliances are reduced and your electric meter is running slower. Not so in Cyprus. You are only allowed a so called net-metering system for which you have to pay fees for application forms, new electric meter etc etc and many conditions you have to fulfil like title deeds and much more...
"President Nicos Anastasiades said that to reduce greenhouse gases, significant changes mainly in the field of energy and transport would have to be made through the use of cleaner fuels, power conservation and increased use of renewable energy sources."
