best sound quality TV

Post by Firefly »

Can anyone recommend a 32" basic TV with good sound quality ?

We bought a 'smart' TV a few years ago, and what a waste of money it was. The sound is dreadful, a cross between booming if the volumes too high, and mumbled speech if it's too low.

We bought a sound bar thinking it would help, it did a bit, but I still have to sit with the remote, varying the volume. We have decided to give up on it, and need to buy a basic TV, but with great sound quality.

Of course you can see the picture in store, but the sound quality is difficult to assess in a shop.

Thanks

Jackie

I have had several soundbar systems over the years, never found one make to be as I would wish it to sound even the Sub versions, for sure this is the best sound TV system I have ever heard and it is I think reasonably priced, only thing is it was purchased from Amazon De and the package was very very heavy, the Sub is the culprit, so heavy I had to help the UPS driver carry it into my home, the sound from this sytem blows away any I have heard from my two Samsung TV recivers, incidently the sound from those TVs is reasonable but lack true bass, buy these is my advice, I conected via the optical output/inputs (Tosslink) not using the 3.5 input or HDMI link cables, way to go I feel. About £300. delivered by UPS in three days!!!.a real bargain I think.

I recently bought a 65'' Samsung TV, but was always fiddling with the sound to suit whatever we were watching, bought a Samsung sound bar, and its brilliant..watching a film the other night and a plane was on the screen, and you had the feeling it was flying over you.

I had the same hudswell Sony surround system, found the rear speakers to be poor the centre speaker no better, I have had several makes of soundbar including Sony's, Samsung and Panasonic, but that system I posted is for sure the very best system I have used in this home and one of the cheapest too, You can only advise on this as your ears need to hear them to be truthful. I used to have in the UK a Linn system with proper Bi-Amped and Bi-wired to each speaker, it had its own amplification including the Sub Woofer, afraid that system cost several thousands of pounds, can't spend like that now even if you could find a proper audiophile shop on Cyprus.

At last more than happy with that cheapo system from Germany.

And if you want to buy the speakers from Amazon.co.uk, and help this site as well, then use this link:

Thank you all for the replies, seems I'm going to have to consider my options.

As Jackie originally said, you can see the screen in a TV showroom, but you can't really test the sound.
An alternative is to use Google to find review sites that give out rating for TV's including the sound quality... It can be a long road to go down though..

I have spun the non-audio component of this thread into it's own one.
