With respect to the annual rise in UK state pension, and its continuation after Brexit, I can confirm this to be the case. I was talking to Mathew Kidd, the British High Commissioner to Cyprus on Tuesday evening, when he informed me that, because of long=standing reciprocal arrangements between UK and Cyprus, which predate its EU membership, there will be no change.

Since Cyprus is a member of the EU, I would think that now EU laws/agreements come before any old pre EU deals Cyprus might of had,

I shouldn't worry, it won't be long before the government stops pension increases in the UK ;)

I'm just wondering how long it will be before the state pension ceases altogether.

I doubt that will ever happen ............... can you really see any government putting that in their next manifesto? Guaranteed death by vote methinks!

Ermm ........ if the GB£ is 1.168 to the euro isn't that going the other way or have you got that the wrong way round? And when I looked a minute ago it was 1.1186 :?

The pound will go up and down like a fiddler's elbow for the next 3 years depending on events so no-one, on either side of the Brexit argument should be crowing.

Nobody is crowing about something that affects virtually anyone on here.... crowing would be a wrong description, as nobody wants it to happen.... however, some warned that Brexit was and won’t be good for the UK! That’s very different and the rates are a direct result with no sign of recovery.

Nobody is crowing? What is your definition of 'crowing'? Everybody and his dog have broadcast their opinions on the pros and cons and what effect they think will happen. That to me is crowing in the same way as a cockerel crows in the morning.

That's called debating. If you don't want to debate about politics, stay out of the politics forum. Or at least, stay away from Brexit threads.

I would if I had the chance, but occasionally I have to poke my head in to make sure people are behaving themselves. Run, save yourself! :)

And you honestly think this is debating Dominic?
Just a silly, childish attempt to crow if you ask me!
Pity that you did not think to get the rate right before posting HIC - looks as though it is soaring!! ;)

Debating is when people of opposite views bring something new to the table each time they comment, not the ever present 'echo' discussion prevailing at the moment on both sides of the argument. I will therefore take your advice and only visit this thread occasionally to see if anyone has actually brought something new to the discussion.

It is debating. It isn't very good debating, I will give you that. But both sides of the argument are to blame for that.

And a statement like "just a silly, childish attempt to crow" is no better than a row of laughing faces, when it comes to quality of debate.

But who can blame anybody? We all follow the shining examples of the right honourable ladies and gentlemen in the House of Commons.
