Who else suffers from a bad back?
Re: Who else suffers from a bad back?
A good core is essential for back sufferers......Pilates and body balance are a good form of exercise.
A monthly back message helps to alleviate tension in the muscle which help preventing back spasms.
We are all different and must do what suits us best but mobility is a key factor in autumnal years.

Re: Who else suffers from a bad back?
I have suffered from back pain for years, arthritis caused by lifting heavy patients whilst nursing. I have taken very strong medication, including morphine tablets for pain. A few months ago I was hearing how some people were experiencing 'miraculous' pain relief by taking Turmeric capsules.
Being rather a sceptic, I thought that this was just another fad, but what the heck, they were cheap enough. I no longer take any pain medication, just one Turmeric capsule a day. My G.P. tells me that he has other patients with the same results as myself.
I feel so much better for not being 'drugged' all day and night with opiates, give it a try. Amazon sell them, read the reviews.

That is wonderful, thank you for posting. May I ask what strength you take, and how much mg of curcumin is in the tablets, please? I have been hearing that curcumin in turmeric is excellent for many things.Firefly wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2018 6:12 pm I have suffered from back pain for years, arthritis caused by lifting heavy patients whilst nursing. Re: Who else suffers from a bad back?
We have just ordered some from Natures Best. According to their blurb,"One of the UK's strongest and purest, 95% curcumins
A perfect partner to glucosamine for joints and backs. Also used as a digestive. One of the UK’s strongest and purest one-a-day formulas."
Also ordered some glucosamine as Rosemary has been really suffering with her back and knee recently, and getting nowhere with our UK doctor.

I take 'Cheeky' organic turmeric, curcumin, and black pepper capsules, they are made in the UK, and cost around £20 for 6 months supply. MOH has just started taking these after consulting our GP, as he has multiple health problems, but he too has the green light, we shall see.
Good luck with it anyone who tries it, feedback would be good.

I want to try these capsules, but after reading what sort of side affects come with them, im going to wait and have a chat with my GP first.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2018 10:22 am Two weeks on with the new mattress, during which time I also bought an ergonomic office chair from Amazon to replace the saggy (seat and back-wise) chair we have had for 10 or more years. In addition I inserted a sheet of plywood under the foam padding on the dining chair I use. I also took Austin 7, Bograt and Jackie's advice and bought anti-inflammatory Turmeric/Curcumin capsules, again from Amazon. The overall effect has been amazing! I almost feel like I have a new back, with 90% of previous pain and discomfort having disappeared. Previous knee discomfort has also almost disappeared completely, so much so that I now barely even think about it; this being the result of weight loss (diet) and, I believe, the curcumin.
Whilst long-term pharmaceutical drugs and pain-killers are necessary for some conditions it's something I particularly wanted to avoid...and it's nice when it's possible to overcome ailments by thinking causal factors through and seeing if they can be overcome without medical intervention.
I just re-read Bograt's link and the many healing properties associated with this product are astonishing; so thanks to all for the heads-up.

That is a very good thing to do... I have not read about side effects, but usually it says that they are 'Possible' side effect... They don't necessarily effect everyone..

Thank you HiC for the update. I have been wondering how you were doing.
Whenever I come back from Cy, I need a trip to my osteopath as my back flares up. I have long though it is my mattress there, as I'm better in the UK, but haven't known where to go to get a really good one. I'll be trying out the one you have got, so thanks again for the advice.

Re: Who else suffers from a bad back?
Good news Lloyd, pleased that you have so much pain relief, I feel fine months down the line, still no need for pain killers for me.

Stick with it, it's early days, I can't imagine that you can blame your cold on Turmeric

Just looked at these, seems it's a muscle massager and stimulator. Can't see how it's worth the money, but each to their own.

Apparently turmeric is a blood thinner. If you have an operation coming up, the advice is to stop taking it two weeks before.
It's also a good idea to find out if turmeric supplements interact adversely with any prescribed medication you're currently taking.
