Erosion

Post by Dominic »

A few weeks ago, I read reports that some ancient human remains had turned up in a remote church near Kathikas. I presume the remains were placed by a tomb robber, but to be honest, the key phrase that stuck in my head was "remote church". After several attempts, the route to the location was found, and we paid it a visit.

Interesting blog and fascinating photos - cannot be left unanswered!

My quick-look evaluation suggests these erosion features to be part of the Kathikas Formation. See description below:

This sedimentary formation is of Maastrichtian age (Upper Cretaceous) and consists of a succession of undeformed, submarine, matrix-supported debris-flow deposits up to 270 m thick. The description in the legend above seems to match quite well with the photographs I think.
