Some of the pancake day posts got me thinking, so what do you remember about your Mum's special recipes? My Mum was a great cook (as they all are I hasten to add) & used to make the best steak & kidney pudding I have ever tasted! So what did your Mum cook that made you think yummy that is spot on?
Rice pudding with loads of nutmeg on the skin. And toffee like substance that you could scrape off around the top of the tin pan, when all the pudding was finished..
Sunday Roasts and Macaroni Cheese. Not together, of course. But they were special. If there was homemade Yorkshire Pudding, so much the better.
Mum could also make a delicious cheese and potato bake, but my brother and I use to tease her about the name,"Eeee Mum, 'appen we'd want some cheese and potato bake". That sort of thing. So she stopped making it, and forgot her recipe.

My Mum was a fabulous cook (as you say Shane, aren't they all) and she would make a great bread and butter pudding which I have never been able to perfect, despite using her recipe.
She also made lovely cakes, especially coconut and date & walnut.
I didn't realise it was Shrove Tuesday, but we can have pancakes anytime can't we ? - so yummy!
