The rocks we can see are either from the Troodos or the Mamonia terranes - this still leaves a third of the island to search for villages with A.

Thanks, Andreas! Drifting slightly off-topic for a moment, but I've noticed something rather interesting about the KYRENIA TERRANE area in the north, depicted in your graphic...

When viewed from the ISS NASA site- http://iss.astroviewer.net/ and it's over Cyprus, you can see ocean depths cleverly mapped by radar. In this instance, the 'Panhandle' appears to continue as a shallow submerged ridge, all the way to the North East corner of the Mediterranean, joining the coast at somwehere in SE Turkey / NW Syria..

Suggests to me that in the long ago past, Cyprus was NOT an island, but a very large peninsular from the mainland. I wonder?

The panhandle does continue quite a bit but eventually disappears in deep sea before hitting the mainland I think. Some of the maps here show this:

Lots of other nice info on there too - amazing what one can find via Google (I like the old maps especially)... - the EEZ map shows the western exploration blocks that Turkey says should be theirs (the northern parts of them at least) - this is where the ENI drill ship is currently blocked from moving on by the Turkish navy :x
Max sent me this earlier - it demonstrates the above as well: http://cyprus-mail.com/2018/02/11/turkey-law-sea-facts/

Thank's to Andreas map (Lofos-5) I believe that the rocks on my pics belong to the Mamonia volcanics. In one large rock next to it, I found also layers of fossilized wood... here a photo from it.

As the hint from me with the geology map from Lofos-5 did not bring any result, here we are: the place is near Ayia Marinouda (1 km ca)
