Does anyone know of a heated indoor swimming pool in the Paphos area, which is open to the general public?

If you were meaning a public municipal indoor heated pool, sorry no there isn’t one. The indoor pools are usually owned by hotels, but some of them allow members of the public to use their facilities on payment of a fee. The hotels have their own policy on this so you need to enquire. The pool is often in or close to their health club or spa.

One in Kato Paphos which I know may allow this is the Alexander the Great Hotel, but there are others. If you have a car, the King Evalthon Hotel at Chloraka, is another hotel which has a nice indoor pool. The hotel is in the Coral Bay Rd.

We always us Alex and Evalthon in the Winter.

We have never paid any fees! We always check with reception first but they always say it is OK to use the pool.

I think if you were to use the pool regularly then you will be expected to pay...I've witnessed people being asked about payment if they're not a guest or a paid up member of the gym

Last year the Alex charged €55 per monthly membership, it was slightly cheaper to do longer periods but can’t remember the price. I don’t know if they do daily rates.

I was at the Evelthon last week and it’s €10 for the indoor pool and if I remember rightly €50 for a month.

Both pools are a good size, if warmth is important the Alex was very warm, although Evelthon temp is comfortable enough (for me anyway) it is cooler.

You are right about the gym but the question was regarding the swimming pool.

Folks can also join to just swim, so if folk come, use the pool & don't pay it hardly seems fair.
People have been asked about membership if they're not wearing the hotel wrist band, the manager of the pool & gym area knows most people so would challenge people who haven't paid.

The Alex is not All Inclusive, clients do not wear a wristband. As I said before, I always check with reception first. If they say it is OK what is not fair?

It is just a swimming pool, no one is getting harmed.

William Morriss...I was talking about the pool at the Evelthon hotel, I know of people who think they can sneak in and use the pool & not pay, whilst others pay for a winter swim membership..that's all

Sneaking in for a freebie swim is a bit pikey. Wouldn't the lack of a matching towel give the game away? Fair enough if they give you permission though.

Many hotels in UK, like Holiday Inn, are quite happy for you and your family to enjoy a heated indoor swim, after you've enjoyed their copious non-resident paid-for buffet breakfast or lunch.

Does a similar tit-for-tat attitude not exist in Paphos hotels that are equipped with indoor pools? It's worth asking...

Of the hotels which were remaining open throughout winter, the majority said their indoor pool was for hotel guests only.

I hope these hotels don’t change their rules if they realize it’s being abused. Pay up!

My thoughts exactly...I would miss my swimming in the heated pool at this time of year...and the warm shower afterwards in a warm room rather than a freezing bathroom at home

I’m currently a member of the gym & indoor pool at The King Evelthon .
Up until today the indoor pool remained unheated as there was an issue after the recent storms and water/mud ingress. The heater is now working, for how long I don’t know
I’ve been a regular winter swimmer there for the past 8 yrs, the water temperatures can be hit & miss and also gets busy depending on hotel guests

Depending on your location and budget, Minthis Spa has a fab 25m indoor pool and multiple steam/sauna rooms.

I looked online at Minthis. 900 euros for 3 months is a bit much just for swimming, which is what is needed. I love the spa there though, has to be said.

For just swimming yes, but the fee includes a gym membership as well including group fitness classes, plus use of the hydrotherapy pool and the 6 thermal suites. So if you’re a proper exercise bunny going 3 or 4 times a week over the winter period when the weather a bit crappy, it work out around €20 a session which on the 3 month option, less if you go as a couple, which I think, given the quality of the facilities, is decent value. The only downside is the view of the 10th hole which I have nightmares about . For those of is in this neck of the woods it’s a lot cheaper in fuel as well
