Applying for E Visa for India
Applying for E Visa for India
Hi, Has anybody applied for a E visa for India?
If so did you have any problems applying?
Form filled in and clicked saved and continue, but kept being put back to same page many times over.
No drop down menu that includes Cyprus as country applying from.
Have contacted Indian consulate several times, and they dont know what the problem is.
Tried to contact Indian E visa by phone, but same message answerphone over and over.
Driving me mad

Re: Applying for E Visa for India
Hello Uncle D
I dont quite know what an E Visa is. However I went on a world cruise which included India and I got my Visa ok but as I did not wish to travel to Nicosia I used a gentlemen named Tony who deals with all manner of things including Visas. He is opposite Paps in town almost on the corner. He has knowledge of all things pertaining to Visas and as I recall contacting the Indian Embassy was nigh on impossible. He also got me a Visa for China, and one other country I now cannot recall. His number if you wish to enquire is 99603378. He is not often there (or wasnt) in the am as he was in Nicosia - most Embassies are only open in the am but his wife mans the office and could tell you when he is expected. Should you be in town you could always pop in. Sorry I cannot be more helpful but out of idle curiosity what is a E Visa.

Thanks Rita
We have had an Indian Visa from Nicosia before, but now they say they will not issue them unless we can prove that we cannot get an E visa on line.
How long ago was your cruise this may have some relevance.

Re: Applying for E Visa for India
We used the E Visa for a cruise in Dec, it was fine getting the e visa online, but a friends photo was rejected so had to do it again, also had to pay again.
If its for a cruise, they accept from Nov 2017 the e-visa at 5 or 6 ports I think.

Hello Uncle D
My last world cruise was in 2009/2010 so you could be right things have changed since then. You could pop in to see Tony or call him and ask his opinion. Otherwise try contacting the embassy again in the am because they are not open to the public in the afternoons and I think that applies to the telephone.
Best of Luck.

Thanks again, its not a cruise we are flying in and out of Kochi, and staying in 3 different places in Kerala state.
Will try again tomorrow in case their systems have been playing up.
May try Tony if all else fails

Rita- excellent recommendation that, for Tony. We used to use him for simple stuff, like car tax renewal on the old Toyota twin cab. Him and his wife certainly know all the shortcuts on navigating the Cypriot bureaucracy for all sorts of legal paperwork, speedily and at very fair costs!
Would you happen to have a weblink for him, so that Dom could consider adding this useful resource to the PL Directory, please?
Cheers- AL

Re: Applying for E Visa for India
Al maybe things have changed re car tax. But it could hardly be simpler now. You can do it online, or just take the log book to the local bank.. You get a printed tax disc within a couple of minutes..

Re: Applying for E Visa for India
A lady I worked with in Limassol did her visa online (travelling to Goa) in 2015.... I don't recall her having any problems because she did it in the office sitting opposite me.
Make sure you haven't got a pop-up blocker on maybe?

Re: Applying for E Visa for India
We went to Kerala last September (from Doha, Qatar): procedure was fill-out e-visa form (online) and print it out. Deliver it to embassy early morning and collect visa same day in the evening (sticker in passport). As there are several hundred thousand Indians here this was a first impression of India (the queues at the desks in the embassy... - with Westerners and ladies actually being given quite some priorities). I believe the website said you can also travel with the print-out and get the visa on arrival in Kochi airport in our case). We landed at 2am and did not want to go though this so did it here locally. The visas were very expensive - and for my British wife almost double compared to me as a Swiss - colonial pay-back time maybe?
Re: Applying for E Visa for India
Thanks, but the lady at the embassy said yesterday that they dont issue visas from there anymore, so when/if we finally get our printouts will have to queue.
We land at 3:30am and have some time to get to the guest house.

Re: Applying for E Visa for India
More tit for tat Lofos-5 . Britain raises the charges for a visa for an Indian citizen to go to the UK and the Indian government matches it. The Brits claim it is to process the visa but mainly to cover the cost of checking the bona fides of the Indian requesting the visa in such a large country where information etc is meagre and hard to get hold of. There is no doubt this tit for tat by the Indian government is hugely detrimental to building their tourist industry from probably the largest potential source the UK with both countries history so intertwined but they seem willing to do so which is a real shame. Cheers Mike

I will ask my son as he and his girlfriend went to Kerala for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year. I know he applied online for his visa. They live here in Cyprus. I am sure he did not have to go to the Embassy.
