Lost TV service

Post by Mrblobby »

The recent loss of tv service prompted me to have a look where some severs are located .

NTV apparently is in the Neverlands .

This check up site appears to work with any site name you put in it .

Dominic , is paphoslife in Manchester ?

The server I use for tv appears to be in the USA .

Near there, yes. I use a UK host called UKFAST. They are very good if you can afford them. They provide super-fast servers and support that is second-to-none. I used to use 1and1, which were a lot cheaper, but had lousy support and slower servers.

When I write ecommerce site for clients, they run off the same server, so the websites run very quickly. The location, in the UK, also means that it is ideally suited for users in the UK and in Cyprus.

So if you know anybody looking for a nice new website, point them in my direction. :)

Incidentally, if you are bored, go to a command prompt and type:

tracert <<website name>>

For instance:

tracert paphoslife.com

You will see all the locations your request visits before reaching the server.

Now that the lost server is starting to come back it would be interesting to know where it is located , if anyone cares to share it .

For anyone that's interested, top class hosting services are available in Riga, Latvia (EU) without too many questions being asked...

Their servers are in a Class A facility, deep underground in an ex-Soviet nuclear bunker, backed up by unique mains supply AND standby generators!

In the past two years we've been using them, they've proven 100% reliable, super fast, and extremely good value for money!

AL :D
Gone but not forgotten...
