That's indeed shameful. Isn't there something in the Cypriot constitution obliging the state to be neutral on matters of philosophy of life?
Re: Humanists slam education ministry's anti-athiest teaching materials
Do you mean "...on matters of religion" ??
Amos.

Best thing is to scrap religion in schools.

I meant the equivalent of the German term "weltanschauliche Fragen" and "philosophy of life" is what the dictionary came up with for Weltanschauung. Maybe, given that there doesn´t seem to be a proper translation I should reword my question to something like: Doesn´t the Cypriot constitution stipulate that the state should be neutral on questions of how you perceive the world/life?
Re: Humanists slam education ministry's anti-athiest teaching materials
I disagree. It should be tought - but in a neutral way and covering all major religions as well as critics of religion. In fact, religious tuition at school turned me from someone who had planned to become a priest (and who got up at 5:30 a.m. so he could get to church before school) to an atheist after having been exposed to the teachings of Feuerbach (a German philosopher and critic of religion) and others.
