Cyprus faces summer water shortage due to lack of rain
Re: Cyprus faces summer water shortage due to lack of rain
Cyprus is still lucky for having desalination plants. Cape Town for instance is less lucky. They will probably have to completely turn off the taps in May and provide water from trucks only.

As I recall, it sat in the tanker because the connecting hose was the wrong diameter and a new one had to be made specially. By the time this had happened, the water was no longer suitable for human consumption.
I wonder where that connecting hose is now?

It´s beyond me that they haven´t made provisions to be able to import water and store it for distribution (or build desalination plants). The lack of water hasn´t come as a surprise since they haven´t had enough rain for years.

Cyprus has enough desalination plants to cope... I found this, bit old, but I think another at Ayia Napa has been build.
