Lovely pictures, thank you for sharing. I can leave it to your imagination as to how grey and grim it is here in the UK today. What a beautiful country Cyprus is, even in the winter the sun is so often shining.
Re: Two phone snaps of Vardas beach on Boxing day morning.
The hotel Atlantica Golden Beach is right there, and guests use this little beach. It was the first hotel we ever stayed at here, so I have a lot of fond memories of that bit of coastline. Vardas restaurant is next door as well.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2018 6:14 pm Indeed nice pics, Jim. Because sandy beaches are such a relative rarity on this end of the island I earlier looked up to see exactly where Vardas Beach was.
Re: Two phone snaps of Vardas beach on Boxing day morning.
You can find some smashing little sandy beaches out beyond Corallia Bay along the Sea Caves coast to (and including) Agios Georgios harbour, Lloyd. And then more from there to Lara Bay, I promise..
But do take a tip from Dominic and his daughter (and other PL members) and take a few empty rubbish sacks with you. As you'll doubtless be saddened by the amount of beach litter left behind after the locals have had a Sunday beach barbeque... I often revisited such beautiful little beaches the next day, just for this purpose.
But it was like painting the Forth Rail Bridge. The next week you went back, it looked just the same, a rubbish tip...

No rubbish on Vardas beach it is cleaned and kept clean, it is in that hotels interest, it is a small beach but fantastic to swim there, like a natural swimming pool. The Vardas cafe/restaurant in the summer has sun beds and they are free providing you buy a coffee, it is also on grass, kept again tidy and clean, only down side is they are developing the area, the hotel is having extensions and some very nice designer properties, and what a view they have too.
Lloyd you do have Coral Beach a few minutes up the road, plenty of sand there if sand is for you.

Re: Two phone snaps of Vardas beach on Boxing day morning.
I remember when they started to build those houses there & along at Cap ST Georges.
Personally I think they have spoilt a beautiful area where we used to have BBQs, beach / rock parties & take the dogs walking.
As for the houses, I think they look like large cell blocks, & for a million plus. I don't think so !!
But I suppose that's progress for you...........

Ramone I agree......but please give me one of those properties or the million €, either will do!!
Sea Caves has also had it's share of spoilers, but that's life! As you know you pay for location.
