My favourite animal pics 2017 #2

Post by cyprusmax47 »

As there were so nice comments from my first post animal pics 2017, here some more...

I did not know that Chameleons change their skin, but this is the case...

Giant grasshopper

I built some simple nesting boxes and I never thought that the shy Wheatear would use it, but it did... comes every year now
Image

Lizards get a extra treat in Winter: Honey, and they love it
Image

Spider got a wasp...
Image

and bees collecting pollen from Rosmarin
Image

Coin snake, ca 1 m , hiding place is my fire wood..
Image

and a huge 2 m black snake has a very special home ( I love them in my property as they chase away poisonous snakes and kill rats as well)
Image

how she manage to go into that small space, God knows...
Image

what was in the skimmer of my pool: quite a large scorpion, nearly touched it by accident!
Image

and finally bee eater, which is extremely shy and disappearing as soon as you come closer than 20 m, this one is young as I was told from an bird expert on PL.
Image

the one with the nice colours is a parent

I added two more pics from bee eaters, as I forgot in the first place.. Was only possible with the larger zoom on my new camera though.

Woop woop, just wonderful! I love those pictures Max. I will be doing some of those ideas too, like nesting boxes and a little lid of honey for the lizard. What a nice man you are, thank you again for sharing, it brightens my day (and I suspect a lot of others as well)

Bog rat, I just copied the nesting boxes I saw in a pet shop in Paphos (Markona, near fire station) You can save your time if you buy a professional one in the shop. OK they look nicer than my product, but I wanted more than five... ( a piece of old drain pipe, 2 lids, special glue, tools for the holes)

Thank you Max. I may try one from a shop, to see if the birds like it, and if successful then try a few DIY ones.

In the UK, it is advised to have the nesting boxes facing north, so that the baby birds do not get too hot. I am quite sure that advice will hold true for Cyprus, somehow.

I love your animal photos Max, they always make me smile when you post them and nice to see the best ones again.

They're super pics, the chameleon one at the top in particularly is amazing, it is so sharp and detailed.

Thanks for posting them Max,
