This time last year I was of the opinion that I would never give up smoking. I thought I enjoyed it too much. On December 30th I smoked my last ciggie, still expecting to carry on. December 31st, suspected heart attack, which turned out to be a very bad angina attack, and initially 3 blocked arteries, then a 5x heart bypass, and not being able to smoke in hospital for 4 weeks really made me think, do I really need to carry on smoking. Now nearly a year since my last ciggie, after being a really heavy smoker, and now I have not felt fitter for years.

To anyone still smoking, it is much easier to give up and if I can do it everyone can. I had patches up to my operation and a nicotine inhaler thingy which I called my dummy. After my op, nothing.

Agreed. I gave up in 1970, cold turkey from 60/day!

To see the positives in life and not become a "moaning Minnie".
