Paphos airport

Post by sargie1949 »

My wife and I are travelling to Cyprus in April 2018. We are staying in the Polis area with some family members who are travelling from a different UK airport. Due to a change of flight times we now face a 4hr wait at the airport before our family arrive so we can collect the hire car. My questions are.

1. What facilities are there in the arrival area?
2. Do they have a luggage storage service as I understand there is a bus that runs to Paphos harbour.

Maybe we will just have to put up with a 4hr wait.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers Jeff. S.

In the Arrivals area out through the Immigration and customs there is a coffee shop, Costa i think it is and also a coffee bar outside the terminal, also a small shop but other than that not a lot else.

Not sure on the bus service someone else will tell you that and cant say i have seen a luggage storage area. 8-)
I started off with nothing and have most of it left !

The airport to Paphos bus timetable is here http://www.cyprusbybus.com/RouteDetails ... 0&t=2&sa=1

It currently costs euro 1.50 per adult.

There is baggage storage at the airport, details are here https://www.hermesairports.com/en/pafos ... torage1040

One quick fix, provided it isn't raining, would be to put the bags in storage then walk out of the airport and onto the beach. You can walk up a short distance to the Bonamare, if you want some food.

And if you carry on walking you will end up at Max's fish restaurant.

I agree with Dominic, if you can get to Bonamare it's a lovely place to sit near the sea and enjoy and a drink and something to eat, and relax after the flight. A perfect welcome to Cyprus. It's a little bit of a walk but a nice walk on a sunny day.

...and do you turn left (heading SE) and walk the beach, or stick to the incoming PFO road and veer off right at some point?

It is a longer walk than it seems, also if you intend to keep to the water edge then the going is torturous, rough rocks and obstructions, don't do it is my advice, get a taxi, the Bonamare is closed for winter so do not expect any refreshments there, I know as it is a regular walking area for me and the pooch...

good luck

Who are you hiring the car from if it is one of the main stream companys like Budget, Eurocar then you could get the car and put your luggage in it and leave it in the hire car parking area and ask them to keep an eye on it till all of your party is hear.
I did this for customers when I worked for a car hire company.

Bonamare is closed for winter but they usually open in March. They'll be open in April. It is a bit of a walk, you'd be better off picking up the car early and driving there.

Paphos airport is not the best to be hanging around for hours.........Bonamare is quite a trek on foot but very quick in the car
What day ofthe week are you travelling?
I assume that the hire car is not in your name.............if not take a taxi to Bonamare but be aware that the taxi drivers at the airport are bandits
If the hire car is in your name or can be amended then pick it up and put your luggage in and drive to Bonamare on your return park it in the car hire carpark to collect your family
