“In no other country in the world are there buses offering direct routes to other cities. Just in Cyprus.
That´s a big lie. In Germany for instance there are. For instance https://www.flixbus.com/?wt_eid=2150963 ... ot%20set),

Is it even legal to threaten something like this:
Taxi drivers has threatened to escalate measures such as closing roads if the government doesn’t heed their requests.
? At least it shouldn´t be. Outrageous!

Taxi drivers in Cyprus have had their own way for far too long. The government just needs to grow a pair of balls and get on with the plan.

Once the taxi drivers realise they no longer have the upper hand, they have the choice to either knuckle down and do a proper job for a change, or face the reality that being a hard nosed, aggressive turd won't bring you repeat passengers.

Couldn't agree more. Make your product attractive (quality and price) in any industry and you will be successful. Unfortunately, with a few notable exceptions, the taxis are old and unsafe (many over 30 years old), driven badly by people with body odour, expensive, unmetered, and women on their own are not safe in them. The only way they keep going is by opposing any other form of transport. What is needed is more stringent regulations that kick the undesirables out, leaving those who deliver a quality service.

As a Cypriot Taxi driver I take exception to the above....

- My meter is allways used
- I never smoke with passengers in my taxi
- I never use my mobile phone whilst driving
- my taxi is cleaned daily
- I never strike when fair competition is announced
- I allways charge a fair price
- I am courteous and friendly at all times
- I observe speed limits

.........,,,,,NOT

If anyone disputes the above, my brothers and I will block all access to Paphos airport at a time when no flights are due to land!

We are not stupid enough to strike at any other time.
